Pinna Squamosa
a mollusk of the class Bivalvia. The wedge-shaped shell is up to 80-90 cm high. Pinna squamosa inhabits the Mediterranean Sea and the coastal waters of West Africa. It buries itself partially in the bottom. A gland in the animal’s foot secretes byssus, a bundle of sturdy silky threads, by means of which the mollusk attaches itself to underwater objects.
