Pinsky, Robert(born Oct. 20, 1940, Long Branch, N.J., U.S.) American poet and critic. Pinsky was poetry editor of The New Republic from 1979 to 1986. His own poems, many of which are to be found in The Figured Wheel: New and Collected Poems (1996), often explore the meaning of ordinary acts. He also did a notable verse translation of Dante's Inferno (1994). Pinsky was poet laureate consultant from 1997 to 2000. How to thank TFD for its existence?
