Location: Off US 45, 5 miles south of Jackson.
Facilities: Group camp, showers, picnic areas, picnic shelters, hiking trails, museum, gift shop, historic area.
Activities: Camping, hiking, interpretive programs.
Special Features: The grouping known as Pinson Mounds consists of at least 15 earthen mounds (including the second tallest ceremonial mound in the United States), a geometic enclosure, habitation areas, and related earthworks. A number of cremation and activity areas have been found nearby. Fieldwork is normally conducted in the summer, and visitors are welcome to watch the archeologists at work.
