Pintor, Giaime
Born Dec. 30, 1919, in Rome; died Dec. 1, 1943, near Castelnuovo al Volturno. Italian anti-Fascist, Communist, author, and literary critic. During World War II, Pintor served in the Italian mission in France. From the outset of the Italian people’s war of national liberation (1943-45), he was a member of the Communist Party and participated in the liberation struggle. In September 1943 he headed a group of workers and students who were defending Rome against fascist German troops. Subsequently he helped organize a volunteer corps in Naples and headed a partisan movement in the Latium region. Pintor was killed by a German mine. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
