Piombino 

a city and port in central Italy, in the province of Leghorn, Tuscany region, on the coast of Follonica Bay, Tyrrhenian Sea. Population, 39,000 (1966). It is an important metallurgical center, with one of the country’s major state metallurgical combines. In 1972 the port’s cargo turnover amounted to 4.8 million tons.
