polymer semiconductor A semiconductor made of synthetic polymer such as an LED or transistor. Such "conjugated polymers" are a plastic material that changes from being an insulator to a semiconductor after being doped. "Plastic electronics" are much simpler to make because they can be printed rather than manufactured via the laborious photomasking process. Also like plastic materials in general, products made from polymer semiconductors are more flexible and can be formed into bendable devices that would snap ordinary electronics.
