cisplatin [¦sis′plat·ən]
(medicine)
A transition-metal complex that is used in the treatment of cancer, with particular effectiveness in the treatment of testicular and ovarian cancers; second- and third-generation variants of this drug have been developed to mitigate undesirable side effects.

In a long and messy tale that has gone on for nearly 10 years, KI members made attempts to thwart Platinex Inc.
The leaders of the remote community 600 km north of Thunder Bay were cited for contempt of court in March for blocking exploration efforts by junior miner Platinex on claims near the community.
KI leadership also rejected a compromise proposed by Ontario Aboriginal Affairs Minister Michael Bryant that would have contributed to the band's legal costs and required Platinex to consult with natives.
