Pleuromeia
a genus of extinct arborescent plants of the division Lycopodiophyta. The erect, nonbranching stem, which measured up to 1–2 m in height and 10 cm in diameter, ended in a strobile with sporangia. At the base of the stem was a tuberous rhizophore, from which rootlets emerged. Traces of scars from fallen leaves were preserved on the bark. The Pleu-romeia existed in the Early Triassic and died out in the Middle Triassic. They probably descended from Late Paleozoic Sigil-lariaceae. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
