Location: Northeastern North Carolina.
Facilities: Viewing sites, hiking trails, auto tour route.
Activities: Fishing, hunting, hiking, wildlife observation.
Special Features: Attempts to reintroduce the red wolf to the area have proven successful.
Habitats: 113,674 acres of open water, riverine swamp, pocosin wetlands, croplands, grass fields, and pine hardwood forests.
Access: Year round during daylight hours.
Wild life: Ducks, geese, tundra swans, raptors, red-cockaded woodpecker, red wolf, and black bears.
