Pogačić, Vladimir
Born Sept. 23, 1919, in Karlovac. Yugoslav film director and screen writer. Pogačcbreve;ić received a degree in philosophy from a school in Zagreb and graduated from the directing department of the Higher Film School in Belgrade in 1947. He immediately began working in films. He directed The Last Day (1951), The Betrayal (1953), Anika’s Times Have Passed (1954), The Big and the Little (1957), Saturday Evening (1957), Alone (1959), Karolina Riječka (1961), and The Man in the Photograph (1963), among other films. Most are psychological dramas based on World War II and on contemporary life. Pogačić also made the documentary films A Glimpse of Yugoslavia (1955) and Nicola Tesla (1957).
