To earn money for college, I found summer jobs as a deckhand on commercial fishing vessels, including lobster boats in Point Judith, Rhode Island.
The company examined the waters off New England's four coastal states and found the Point Judith, Rhode Island, area ideally suited for the project.
One explanation for this surprising observation is that the submerged portion of the Ronkonkoma glacial moraine that extends from the eastern tip of Long Island to Block Island and continues northward toward Point Judith, Rhode Island, acts as a natural jetty at the mouth of Block Island Sound, dissipating much of the storms' wave energy.
