Brewster's angle [¦brü·stərz ¦aŋ·gəl] (optics) The angle of incidence of light reflected from a dielectric surface at which the reflectivity for light whose electrical vector is in the plane of incidence becomes zero; given by Brewster's law. Also known as polarizing angle. How to thank TFD for its existence? Tell a friend about us, add a link to this page, add the site to iGoogle, or visit webmaster's page for free fun content. |

The researchers used an easy-to-see reference--the alignment of jets of radio waves emitted by many of the quasars and galaxies in their study--to measure the polarization angle of radiation. Now, researchers have developed techniques for correcting or avoiding errors when transmitting or storing quantum states such as electron spins or photon polarization angles. Instead of determining its polarization directly, and thereby disturbing it, she measures the relationship between the polarization angle of her mystery photon and that of a photon created in an EPR process. |
