SIMI VALLEY -- When Mayor Paul Miller was chief of the Simi Valley Police Department in the 1980s and 90s, citizens spontaneously offered to give money to support the department's police dogs and the DARE anti-drug program.
That's right, military police dogs like Fido and Rex ale now issued doggy tailored body armor worthy of such "devil dogs.
Seventy percent of the students surveyed believed that the presence of the K-9 unit could deter drug use on campus, while less than 12 percent felt that police dogs were a waste of resources.
