Polikarpovich, Konstantin Mikhailovich 

Born Mar. 6 (18), 1889, in the village of Belaia Dubrovka, in what is now Kostiukovichi Raion, Mogilev Oblast; died Feb. 20, 1963, in Minsk. Soviet Byelorussian archaeologist.

From 1944 to 1962, Polikarpovich was head of the archaeology section of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR. He discovered and studied a number of Paleolithic sites, including Berdyzh, Eliseevichi, Iurevichi, and Iudinovo, and Mesolithic sites, including Zhuravel’, Kryzhi, and Pechenezh. He also discovered and studied Neolithic and Bronze Age remains, for example, the remains at Krivino and Strelitsa. Polikarpovich was awarded the order of the Badge of Honor.
