Polish Revolutionary Committee
a provisional body of revolutionary authority that functioned in one part of Poland in July and August 1920. The committee was created in Białystok on July 30 by Polish Communists at the time of a counteroffensive by the Red Army during the Polish-Soviet War of 1920. The committee consisted of J. Marchlewski (chairman), F. Dzerzhinskii, F. Kon, E. Próchniak, and J. Unszlicht. The committee nationalized industry, confiscated large landholdings, and carried out other measures. It ceased to exist after the retreat of the Red Army. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
