Polosin, Evgenii Maksimovich 

Born Dec. 24, 1911 (Jan. 6, 1912), in the village of Uryvki, now in Lipetsk Oblast. Soviet Russian actor. People’s Artist of the USSR (1969). Member of the CPSU since 1939.

Polosin studied in L. M. Leonidov’s class at the State Institute of Theatrical Arts from 1934 to 1939 and first acted in the Gomel’ Russian Drama Theater. During the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45, he acted with a group from this theater at the front. From 1945 to 1948 he acted at the Mogilev Theater.

Since 1949, Polosin has been an actor at the M. Gorky Russian Drama Theater of the BSSR. His roles have included Nichipor in Krapiva’s He Who Laughs Last, Kroplia in Movzon’s Konstantin Zaslonov, Kukushkin in Gubarevich’s The Brest Fortress, Akim in L. N. Tolstoy’s The Power of Darkness, Vaflia in Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, Okaemov in Afinogenov’s Mashen’ka, Shchukar’ in Virgin Soil Upturned, based on Sholokhov’s novel, and Bal’zaminov in Ostrovskii’s The Marriage of BaTzaminov. Polosin has been awarded four orders and several medals.
