(organic chemistry)
CH3CHOH(CH2OCH-CH3)xCH2OH Polymeric material similar to polyethylene glycol, but with greater oil solubility and less water solubility; used as a solvent for vegetable oils, waxes, and resins, in hydraulic fluids and as a chemical intermediate.
