polysiloxane

[¦päl·i·si′läk‚sān]
(organic chemistry)
(R2SiO)n A polymer in which the chain contains alternate silicon and oxygen atoms; in the formula, R can be H or an alkyl or aryl group; commercially, the R is usually CH3(the methylsiloxanes); properties vary with molecular weight, from oils to greases to rubbers to plastics.

Probably, some interactions between clay system and polysiloxane matrix are responsible for the significant changes of vulcanization rate of reinforced specimens as compared with pure PDMS.
The matrix, which contains a silicone oil, comprises 58-85% by weight of self-adhesive polysiloxane and the coating weight of the matrix is between 30-200 g/ [m.
To improve the compatibility of the PDMS in the formulation, minimize surface defects and improve incorporation of the defoamer, modification of the PDMS can be performed by replacing the hydrophobic methyl groups with other polar groups to increase the overall hydrophilicity of the polysiloxane.
