Dates of birth and death unknown. A Roman jurist of the second century A.D.

Pomponius was the author of a number of general treatises on Roman civil law, an extensive commentary on the praetorian edict, and monographs on individual aspects of private law. He wrote more than 150 books known primarily from citations in and fragments of the works of later authors. Especially important was his short handbook on the history of Roman law and jurisprudence, which was included in the Digest.
