Pontiac Lake Recreation Area

Location: In Oakland County, 7 miles west of Pontiac on M-59, along the shore of Pontiac Lake.
Facilities: 176 modern campsites, 24 equestrian campsites, picnic areas, picnic shelters (é), playground, ball field, concession/store, beach house, fishing piers (é), boat launch (é), hiking trail (2 miles), mountain bike trail (11 miles), equestrian trails (17 miles), horse rentals, pony rides, shooting/archery ranges (é).
Activities: Camping, boating, water-skiing, tubing, fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting, snowmobiling, interpretive programs.
Special Features: The area is a mixture of marshes, ponds, heavy forests, old farm fields, river bottom, and lakes. It supports a wide variety of animals, with excellent hunting as well as fishing for bass, pike, and panfish. The park's 11-mile mountain bike trail is ranked among the top 100 in the US.
