A European stage of geologic time in the uppermost Miocene, above the Sarmatian and below the Plaisancian of the Pliocene; it has also been regarded as the lowermost Pliocene.

Byline: Bejay Browne THE PONTIAN community of Cyprus is feeling the pinch of the economic crisis and many families are choosing to return back to their homes, it emerged yesterday.
He said Noordin's remains would reach the Jamek Nurul Iman mosque in the village of Kampung Melayu in the Pontian district of southern Johor state three hours later where final religious rites would be performed.
He is leveraging on his father Jasbir Singh's popularity, who has been the Pontian division chairman for the past 45 years.
