Pontypridd (pôntəprēth`), town (1981 pop. 32,992), Rhondda Cynon Taff, S Wales, on the Taff River. Electrical equipment, cables, and chains are made. The famous stone single-span bridge over the Taff was built in 1756, but is no longer in use. The Trefforest industrial estate lies to the southeast.
