Port Royal State Historic Park Location: 12 miles southeast of downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, off Hwy. 76. Facilities: Picnic areas, hiking trails. Activities: Hiking, picnicking, sightseeing. Special Features: Site of one of Tennessee's earliest communities and trading centers, the park is an official site on the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail. The covered bridge is a reconstruction of an earlier bridge, whose remains were washed away in the flood of 1866. The present concrete and steel bridge was built in 1955.
