Comodoro Rivadavia (kōmōthō`rō rēvätha`vyä), city (1991 pop. 124,151), Chubut prov., S Argentina, on the Gulf of San Jorge, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. The major center of oil production in Argentina, it is connected by a 1,100-mi (1,770-km) pipeline with Buenos Aires. A government-owned corporation runs the oil wells.
Comodoro Rivadavia 

a city and port in southern Argentina, on the Atlantic coast in Patagonia (Chubut Province). Population, 38,700 (1960). Comodoro Rivadavia is the center of the leading oil region in Argentina. Its industries include petroleum refining and lead smelting; there are slaughterhouses and meat-refrigeration plants (mutton). A gas pipeline runs from Comodoro Rivadavia to Buenos Aires. Exports include petroleum, wool, meat, and untanned leather.
