Portable Media Center

A handheld music and video player that runs an embedded version of the Windows CE operating system. Part of the Windows Mobile platform, it uses a hard drive for all content and includes software for selecting and synchronizing music, videos and photos from a PC. The Portable Media Center (PMC) supports Microsoft's Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) for downloading and Janus digital rights management (DRM). In 2004, Creative and Samsung introduced PMC devices. See Windows Mobile and Ultra-Mobile PC.
