Barbed-wire barricades lie in the fields around Drumcree Church in Portadown, Northern Ireland, in anticipation of the historically contentious Drumcree Orange parade held each July.
Just a few years ago, he walked triumphantly at the side of Protestant hard-liner Ian Paisley after Northern Ireland police allowed a controversial Protestant Orange Order parade to pass through a Catholic neighborhood in Portadown.
This past summer, the British army and the RUC (the Northern Ireland police) allowed a Protestant march through a Catholic area of Portadown at 4:00 o'clock in the morning, having led many to think the Orangemen would be stopped instead.
