Port Talbot (tôl`bət), town (1981 pop. 40,078), Neath Port Talbot, S Wales, at the mouth of the Avon (Afan) River on Swansea Bay. Port Talbot is a popular seaside resort. Nearby are the steelworks at Margam and the oil refinery at Baglan.

Port Talbot 

a city and port in southern Wales, in West Glamorgan, on Bristol Channel. Population, 50,700 (1971). A major center of ferrous metallurgy, Port Talbot is equipped to receive ore carriers up to 100,000 tons.
