Portola Redwoods State Park Location: On Portola State Park Road, 3 miles west of Highway 35 via Alpine Road. Facilities: 53 developed family campsites, 3 group campgrounds (tents only), 6 hike-in campsites, showers, picnic areas, hiking trails (18 miles), nature trails, visitor center. Activities: Camping, hiking. Special Features: A rugged, natural basin forested by Douglas firs, oaks, and giant coast redwoods, park includes one of the tallest redwoods (300 feet high) in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Trails crisscross the canyon and its two streams, Peters Creek and Pescadero Creek.
