Positional System

Positional System 

a numeral system based on the principle of the positional value of digits—that is, on the principle that a given digit will have different values depending on its position in the representation of a number. An example of a positional system is the now generally accepted decimal system, which uses the ten digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.
