Post, Richard F. (Freeman) (1918– ) physicist; born in Pomona, Calif. He taught at Pomona College (1940–42), performed underwater sound studies at the Naval Research Laboratory (1942–46), then moved to Stanford (1947–51) before joining the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (1951–87). He made major contributions to particle accelerator research, nuclear fusion, and high-temperature plasma physics.
