Postolovskii, Dmitrii Simonovich

Postolovskii, Dmitrii Simonovich 

Born Oct. 24, 1876, in Voronezh; died May 29, 1948. Participant in the revolutionary movement in Russia.

While a student at the University of St. Petersburg from 1895, Postolovskii was a member of Social Democratic circles. In 1900 he was arrested and exiled to Ufa Province. From 1901 to 1903 he was a member of the Urals Union of Social Democrats and Socialist Revolutionaries. After the Second Congress of the RSDLP in 1903, Postolovskii was a Bolshevik. In 1903 he was a member of the Tbilisi and Caucasian Union committees of the RSDLP, and from 1904 carried on party work in Vilnius, St. Petersburg, and Voronezh. In 1905, Postolovskii became a representative of the Central Committee of the RSDLP at the party council. He was a delegate from the Northwestern Committee to the Third Congress of the RSDLP in 1905 and was elected a member of the Central Committee. He was the official representative of the Central Committee of the RSDLP on the executive committee of the St. Petersburg soviet.

Postolovskii was repeatedly arrested. During the years of reaction from 1908 to 1910 he gave up party work. After the February Revolution of 1917, he worked in the commissariat of law of the Petrograd soviet. After the October Revolution of 1917, Postolovskii was on the State Commission of Legislative Proposals of the Council of People’s Commissars of the RSFSR and then did legal work in Soviet institutions. He was granted a special pension in 1932.
