In central OK, southeast of Oklahoma City; original county; organized as County "B" in 1891 (prior to statehood); name changed in 1892. Name Origin: For the Potawatomie Indian tribe of Algonquian linguistic stock. The name probably means 'people of the place of the fire.'

    Rogers was born April 9, 1922, in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, to Alfred and Iva Day Grall.
    On November 15, 2006, Knight announced that it has acquired oil and gas leases covering approximately 1000 acres in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma.
    Additionally, Knight has performed preliminary investigation and evaluation of two other prospect areas in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma and the preliminary results are positive and suggest that additional detailed studies be performed.
