Pound, Robert V. (Vivian) (1919– ) physicist; born in Ridgeway, Ontario, Canada. He came to the U.S.A. with his parents in 1923. He was a researcher with the Submarine Signal Company (Mass.) (1941–42), then performed radiation research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1942–46), before joining Harvard (1945–89). Pound made pioneering studies of nuclear magnetic resonance (1940s–50s), and extensive relativistic gravitational investigations using gamma rays (1950s–60s). How to thank TFD for its existence?
