PoweredUSB

Also found in: Wikipedia 0.01 sec.
PoweredUSB
A high-power USB interface from IBM that includes six amps of 5, 12 and 24-volt power. PoweredUSB is used to connect peripherals that need more than the maximum 500 milliamps of power in a USB cable. The power is transferred in separate wires within the cable.

Stacked Plugs and Sockets
A power socket is stacked above the standard USB socket, and the PoweredUSB plug inserts into both cavities. The power plugs and sockets are keyed to one of the three voltages. See USB.

Sockets on the Host Side
Notice how the power sockets are keyed differently depending on voltage. The peripheral side of the cable, which uses an entirely different 8-pin plug and socket, is often attached directly to the device.
