Poyang Hu

a lake in China in the valley of the Yangtze River, with which it is joined by a small channel. Poyang Hu is approximately 2,7000 sq km in area. It usually drains into the Yangtze. During the high-water period of summer, when water levels in the Yangtze are high, a reverse flow of water occurs, as a result of which the size of the lake varies sharply with the seasons. In summer, the lake’s area reaches 5,000 sq km and the depth reaches 20m. There is fishing and navigation on the lake.
