Poza Rica de Hidalgo 

a city in Mexico, in the state of Veracruz, on the Gulf of Mexico and the Cazones River. Population, 121,300 (1970, municipality). The center of one of Mexico’s chief oil and gas extraction and refining regions, Poza Rica de Hidalgo has petrochemical and chemical enterprises. The area surrounding the city is the country’s main fuel-producing region. There are pipelines (for oil, gas, and other products) running from Poza Rica de Hidalgo to Mexico City.
