Pratt Institute

Pratt Institute, at Brooklyn, N.Y.; coeducational; chartered and opened 1887. Founded by Charles Pratt as a school for practical training, it now offers general and professional studies, including programs in fine arts, art education, art history, library and information science, computer graphics, film, fashion design, interior design, industrial design, architecture, engineering, and construction management. There is also a Manhattan campus (est. 1956 as an extension of the School of Art and Design). The institute's library opened in 1896 as the first general public library in Brooklyn but was closed to the public in 1940.

Pratt Institute

Private institution of higher learning in Brooklyn, New York, New York, U.S. It was founded as a trade school in 1887 by the industrialist Charles Pratt (1830–91). It comprises schools of architecture, art and design (for which it is especially renowned), liberal arts and sciences, professional studies, and information and library science. It has both bachelor's and master's degree programs.

Miovski sits on the Lower Manhattan Rental Conditions Committee; serves on the Board of the internationally-acclaimed Shaw Festival, located in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Canada; and is a guest lecturer at the Pratt Institute School of Architecture and Facilities Management.
New approaches were needed to keep Pratt Institute competitive, but also provide updated and efficient services to students, faculty, and staff.
