In 2004, it was Smarty Jones, the Derby and Preakness winner from the sticks, whose ankle problems were just serious enough to rationalize his owners taking $20 million to retire him to stud (Ghostzapper was Horse of the Year). Had he won the Preakness Stakes, the famously injured thoroughbred Barbaro would have been so valuable his owners wouldn't be able to fully insure him. The four properties are Paramus Plaza I, II and IV in Paramus and Preakness Plaza in Wayne. |
