a city and administrative center of Preiļi Raion, Latvian SSR. It is located 18 km from the Aglona railroad station on the Daugavpils-Rēzekne line 204 km southeast of Riga. Preiļi has starch, cheese, and flax-processing plants and clothing enterprises.
