On the central western border of TX, southeast of El Paso; organized Jan 3, 1850 from Bexar County. Name Origin: From Spanish for 'garrisoned fortress.'

Area (sq mi): 3856.26 (land 3855.51; water 0.75). Pop per sq mi: 2.00.
Pop 2005: 7,722. State rank: 180. Pop change: 2000-20005 5.70%; 1990-2000 10.00%. Pop 2000: 7,304 (White 14.80%; Black or African American 0.30%; Hispanic or Latino 84.40%; Asian 0.10%; Other 14.70%). Foreign born: 35.80%. Median age: 32.80.
Income 2000: per capita $9,558; median household $19,860; Pop below poverty level: 36.40%. *Personal per capita income 2000-2003: $13,446-$14,465.
Unemployment 2004: 14.50%. Change from 2000: -9.00%. Median travel time to work: 17.30 minutes. Working outside county of residence: 18.50%.

With respect to its zeolite project located in Presidio County, Texas, Mr.
This new enterprise will involve the development of CAMI's Zeolite deposit near Marfa in Presidio County, Texas and the joint creation of a Zeolite based mineral product to be called ZeoCast.
The optioned facilities have been preliminarily validated as consistent with the processing requirements of Rio Grande's Shafter-Presidio Silver Mine in Presidio County, Texas by a study completed by Kappes Cassidy and Associates of Reno, Nevada.
