Priimak, Boris Ivanovich 

Born May 29 (June 11), 1909, in Novocherkassk. Soviet architect. People’s Architect of the USSR (1970). Became a member of the CPSU in 1952.

In 1930, Priimak graduated from the department of architecture at the Kharkov Art Institute. From 1955 to 1972 he served as chief architect for the city of Kiev. He teaches at the Kiev Art Institute, where he has been a professor since 1971. In Kiev, Priimak collaborated on a general plan for the development of Kiev (1947), the project for the design and construction of the Kreshchatik (the main thoroughfare, 1945–54), an apartment house on L. N. Tolstoy Square (1949–51), the central post office (1952–57), the Moscow Hotel (1954–61), a general plan for the city up to the year 2000 and a design for its center (1961–67), and the Bolshevik Plant (1963) and Nivki (1972) subway stations.

Priimak has been awarded the Order of Lenin, two other orders, and various medals.
