Prikumsk
(from 1935 to 1957 and since 1973, Budenovsk), a city under the jurisdiction of Stavropol’ Krai, RSFSR. Located on the Kuma River. Terminus of a branch line (94 km) from Georgievsk on the Rostov-on-Don-Baku line. Population, 38,000 (1974). Prikumsk has an industrial tape enterprise, which makes insulating tape for the electrical engineering industry; a machine-repair plant for buses, repair trucks, and trailers; a meat and poultry combine; and a cannery. The Plastmass Plant was under construction in 1975. An experimental selection station of the Stavropol’ Agricultural Scientific Research Institute and an experimental station of the Novocherkassk Viticultural Scientific Research Institute are in Prikumsk.
