Priština or Prishtina (both: prē`shtĭnä), city (1991 pop. 155,449), S Serbia. It is the chief city and capital of Kosovo Kosovo or Kosovo-Metohija , Albanian Kosova, Serbo-Croatian Kosovo i Metohija and Kosmet, province (2002 est. pop. 1,900,000), 4,126 sq mi (10,686 sq km), S Serbia. Priština is the chief city.

Priština was a capital of the Serbian empire in the 14th cent.

Priština 

a city in Yugoslavia, in the Socialist Republic of Serbia. Capital of the autonomous region of Kosovo. Population, 73,000 (1972). Priština is the trade and distribution center for the agricultural region of Kosovo Polje. Industries include cotton, food processing, and ceramics. There is a thermal power plant and a factory producing shock absorbers. Crafts produced include filigreed items of nonferrous metals and rugs. A university was founded in Priština in 1970. Lignite and lead and zinc ore are mined in the area. The Kosovo chemical power combine is also located nearby.

At next week's government session, the decision for the establishment of the Macedonian embassy in Pristina needs to be passed and soon the Macedonian delegation headed by Minister Milososki is to travel to Kosovo.
The paper comments on its front page that the closed border is now opening many questions: whether the border demarcation was done in compliance with the Constitution, whether the parallel parliamentary sessions in Skopje and Pristina is evidence this was a result of big pressure from the international community, what is the border line now and whether time has come for the country to finally change its name.
Fans set Macedonian flag on fire at soccer match between Kosovo soccer clubs Pristina and Vlaznimi on 27 September.
