A bean resembles a prolate ellipsoid sliced in half along its long axis.
For the prolate ellipsoid (cylinder), the aspect ratio, p [greater than or equal to] 1, is taken as a ratio of the long axis divided by the short axis.
Before reaching that point, however, some rapidly spinning nuclei settle into a "superdeformed" shape, a prolate ellipsoid reminiscent of a more elongated football spinning about its short axis.
