Prosenchyma

a plant tissue that consists of elongate cells with tapering ends (unlike parenchyma cells); prosenchyma cells vary in origin and function. There are transitional types of tissue between prosenchyma and parenchyma, for example, collenchyma or the lobate branched cells of mesophyll in the leaves of canna and other plants.
