Proterogenesis
a type of development characterized by the appearance of the characteristics of a new taxonomic group in the early stages of individual development (ontogeny) of the members of the ancestoral group and by the spread of these characteristics in the course of historical development (phylo-geny) to progressively later stages of ontogeny. The term “pro-terogenesis” was introduced by the German paleontologist O. Schindewolf in 1925. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
