Pseudomonas aeruginosa [‚süd·ə‚mōn·əs ‚ar·ə·jə′nō·sə]
(microbiology) An opportunistic pathogen that is the most significant cause of hospital-acquired infections, particularly in predisposed patients with metabolic, hematologic, and malignant diseases.
