Although these cases make psychiatrists uncomfortable, a new study suggests that coercion plays a valuable role in jumpstarting participation in the treatment of eating disorders. The development of the mental health nurse practitioner role has been welcomed by the nursing profession, but psychiatrists are 'divided' about the benefits, according to nursing researchers from the Centre for Psychiatric Nursing Research and Practice at the University of Melbourne. She did rule, though, that the parents' lawsuit could proceed against four psychiatrists at MIT and two university administrators who are not mental health professionals. |
