Puchkov, Nikolai Georgievich
Born Jan. 30, 1930, in Moscow. Soviet athlete. Honored Master of Sports (1956) and Honored Coach of the USSR (1971). Officer in the Soviet Army. Member of the CPSU since 1954. During the period 1952–62, Puchkov was goalkeeper on the USSR national ice-hockey team. He was USSR champion eight times during the years 1951–61 as a member of the Central Army Team and the Air Force Team, European champion six times during the period 1954–60, World champion in 1954 and 1956, and Olympic champion in 1956. He was acknowledged to be the best goalkeeper in the 1959 World championship. Puchkov has been awarded two orders and various medals. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
