When the initial rhythm is asystole or pulseless electrical activity, the survival rate is low and when it is performed out of hospital, very few (<10%) survive to hospitalization and virtually none survive to be discharged from the hospital.
At baseline and 2 months, parents completed Achenbach's Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), and urine samples from the children were assayed for epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine, serotonin, GABA, glutamate, pulseless electrical activity (PEA), and histamine.
Pulse-checking after defibrillation The 2005 guidelines state that after most defibrillation attempts, the patient's rhythm will usually change to either asystole or pulseless electrical activity (PEA).
